Dr. Harold Warren Tripp, 75, passed away Sunday, November 14, 2021. Harold was born in Lenox, GA on February 7th, 1946, to the late Warren and Pearl (Moore) Tripp.
Harold grew up on a farm in Omega, GA with siblings MJ and Patricia. He left the family farm after graduation to attend business school in Atlanta and obtained an accounting diploma. However, his heart was always set on becoming a dentist, so he returned home to study at ABAC where he took day classes and worked nights to support his collegiate aspirations. During his graveyard shifts at a local woolen mill he met the love of his life. He married Jayne in 1968 as he continued college, earning his bachelor’s degree at Valdosta State University. He then continued to the Medical College of Georgia in Augusta where he earned his Doctor of Medical Dentistry (DMD). Upon completion of his DMD, he joined the U.S. Army Medical Corps to fulfill his active-duty service commitment. He was then assigned to the U.S. Army Reserve Medical Command where he remained until ending his service as a Lieutenant Colonel (LTC) many years later.
Harold and Jayne moved to Reidsville, GA with their children in 1977 where he established his dental practice. Reidsville has been his home and community for the past 44 years. Harold “Doc” was very involved in the community to include the Lyons Club, Chamber of Commerce, Alatamaha Hobby Show Steering Committee, volunteering his dental services annually for the Georgia Baptist Mobile Ministry Association, in addition to many other projects in the community. Doc’s greatest professional joy was caring for the wonderful people of Tattnall County through his dental practice for over 40 years.
“Doc” was a very eclectic guy and was always busy as a bee with ALL kinds of projects. In his spare time, he enjoyed flying aircraft as both a pilot and model enthusiast, riding his Harley, boating of any variety, skeet shooting, woodworking, fishing, gardening, the list goes on. He was always seeking a new hobby or skill to learn, or something yet accomplished. If he hadn’t tackled it yet, he was likely planning to. His greatest achievement and joy were his family, to include his two children, Dayna and Scott, and his extended family.
Harold is survived by his son, Scott Tripp of San Diego, CA, granddaughter Violet Jayne Tripp, and step grandson Wayne Winston both of Sedro-Woolley, WA; daughter, Dayna Johnson and son-in-law Perry Johnson, Grandson Colyn Johnson, and Granddaughters Jessalyn, Fallyn, and Gracelyn Johnson of Alma, GA; sister, Patricia (and James) Whittington of Norman Park, GA; extended family includes Gene & Tamza Black of Tifton, GA, Stanley Aultman of Quincy, FL, Roger Aultman of Tifton, GA, Terry Aultman of Jacksonville, FL, Linda Childers of Ocilla, GA, Carolyn Holsenbeck of Tifton, GA, Marsha Aultman of Tifton, GA, Deborah Culpepper of Sylvester, GA, Gary & Wanda Smith of Tifton, GA, Norma Aultman of Tifton, GA, Gwen Aultman of Tifton, GA, Janice Aultman of Green Cove Springs, FL, along with many wonderful nieces , nephews and other relatives and friends.
