Phillip Wright Crosby, 83, formerly of Tifton, died Thursday, August 25, 2016 at Fairview Park Hospital in Dublin, Georgia
Funeral Services will be held Sunday, August 28, 2016 at 3:00 PM in First United Methodist Church of Tifton with the Rev. Jim Dominey and Rev. Benjy Varnell officiating. Interment will follow at Oakridge Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2:00-2:40 PM on Sunday before the service.
Mr. Crosby’s nephews and grandsons will serve as pallbearers. The Beacon Sunday School class of First Methodist Church will serve as honorary pallbearers.
Mr. Crosby was born February 18, 1933, in Brooker Florida to the late Lyon B. and Thelma Johnson Crosby. He has lived in Tifton since 1968, moving here from Quincy, Florida. He received his Associate’s degree at Chipola Jr. College in Marianna Fla., his bachelor’s degree at the University of Florida and then his master’s degree at the University of Georgia. Mr. Crosby served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was retired from ABAC as a teacher in the Agricultural Engineering department.
Mr. Crosby was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Tifton. He was a very active member of the Beacon Sunday School class, Kiwanis Club and Meals on Wheels. Fishing, gardening and working on lawn mowers were just a few of his favorite hobbies.
Mr. Crosby is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Kim and Andy Thompson of Soperton; one son and daughter-in-law, Mark and Teri Crosby of Wrightsville; his three grandchildren, Matthew Crosby and Hannah and Skip Skipper, two sisters and a brother-in-law, Annis and John Dominey of McRae and Eudene Rowan of Greensboro, Fla.; and one brother and sister-in-law, Larry and Mary Crosby of Hawthorne, Fla. and sister-in-law Agnes Crosby of Tallahassee, FL.
Mr. Crosby was preceded in death by his wife, Joyce Suber Crosby who died March 2010.

The family will meet at the home of Mr. Crosby in Tifton.
