William "Larry" Evans

Mr. William Larry Evans, 83, of Tifton passed away on Sunday, May 1, 2022, at Tift Regional Medical Center.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Thursday, May 5, 2022 at Eastside Baptist Church of Tifton with Rev. Keith Norris officiating. Interment will follow at Oakridge Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday from 10:00 to 10:45 A.M. at the church before the service.

Deacons of Eastside Baptist Church of Tifton will serve as pallbearers.

Mr. Evans was born August 30, 1938 in Tift County to the late William Carlton Evans, Sr., and Jessie Coarsey Evans. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Gwendolyn Williams Evans who died April 2, 2015, his daughter, Terri Lynn Evans, his two sisters, Frances Dale Evans and Dorothy Evans Williford, his brother, William Carlton Evans, Jr. Mr. Evans was a member of Eastside Baptist Church of Tifton. In his early years he was manager of several supermarkets including Harvey’s, but he spent the majority of his career as “Heavy”, a route salesman for Flower’s Baking Company. After retiring from Flower’s, he worked as a meat cutter for Esco’s in Omega until 2016. After retirement he enjoyed watching old TV westerns and talking farming with his friends.

Mr. Evans is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Kaye and Richard Gaines of Tifton; his granddaughter, Megan Gaines of Tifton; his brother and sister-in-law, Billy Lee and Rennie Evans of Bradenton, Florida and his sister-in-law, Betty Ruth Williams of Greenwood, South Carolina.
