Mr. William Damon Myers, 83, of Tifton passed away on Tuesday, April 25, 2023 at his residence.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 P.M. on Sunday, April 30, 2023 in the chapel of Albritton Funeral Directors with Rev. Stacy Phillips officiating and the eulogy will be given by his grandson, Matthew Myers. Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery in Fitzgerald with military honors rendered. The family will receive friends from 1:30 to 2:30 P.M. at the funeral home before the service.
Matthew Myers, Joel Myers, Murray Sloan, Larry Bellamy, tim Fuller and Randy Walker will serve as pallbearers.
Mr. Myers was born November 20, 1939 in Irwin County to the late Waldo Myers and Ida Tucker Myers. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Joel Keith Myers, his daughter-in-law, Karen Knowles Myers and his brother, Jerry Ray Myers. Mr. Myers was a member of Northside Baptist Church of Tifton and a graduate of Fitzgerald High School. He was a retired Major of the United States Army National Guard for thirty-two years and he was company commander of the Tifton unit for four years and held numerous positions within the Guard. He was also retired from United States Army Reserve. Mr. Myers was retired from United States Postal Service after thirty-nine years as a U.S. Mail Carrier. After he retired, he got U.S. Coast Guard Charter Captain’s License for charter fishing. He was an outdoorsman who loved to hunt, fish, camp, cook and scuba dive. Mr. Myers was a hard-working family man who loved serving his country and was a man of good character and integrity.
Mr. Myers is survived by his wife Linda Carol Walker Myers of Tifton; his son, Richard Mark Myers of Tifton; his grandchildren, Matthew and Elza Myers, Joel and Ashley Myers, Melinda and Bryan Clishe and Kelli and Murray Sloan; his great grandchildren, Raelan Myers, Henley Myers, Holly Sloan, Corvin Myers and Case Myers; his sisters and brothers-in-law, Judy and Larry Bellamy of Fitzgerald and Shirley and Ed Jordan of Tifton.
