William Jennings “Bill” Nicholson, Jr, 91, of Tifton passed away on Sunday, December 2, 2018 at Cypress Pond Assisted Living Center in Tifton. The love of his life, Norma Jean Worley Boggs Nicholson was at his side.
Graveside service will be held Friday, December 7th at 11:00 a.m. in Omega Cemetery with Rev. Steve Davis officiating. Interment will follow in Omega Cemetery.
Mr. Nicholson was born December 4, 1926 in Tift County to the late William Bryan “Bam” Nicholson and Margaret “Maggie” Gibbs Nicholson. He was also preceded in death by his beloved son William Bryan Nicholson, Sr. Mr. Nicholson served in the Merchant Marines and worked many years as an electrician in various contract positions in the Southeast. He retired from the United States Postal Service in Tifton, all the while doing what he loved the most, playing and teaching music. He had a wonderful sense of humor and kept family and friends laughing all the time. His sense of humor can be attributed to his father. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Nicholson is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Margaret N. and Earle “Rusty” Keaton, Jr., of Greenville, South Carolina; two sons and daughters-in-law, Tony and Mindy Boggs of Tallahassee, Florida and Pete and Barbara Boggs of Tifton; four grandchildren, Christie Nicholson, William Bryan Nicholson, Jr. (Ashley), Earle “Chip” Keaton and Dr. Eugene and Zoe Giddens, II; eight great grandchildren, Alice Giddens, Harry Giddens, Cate Giddens, Logan Berger, Nathan Keaton, Madison Keaton, Allison Keaton and Olivia Keaton.
The family wishes to thank the staff of Cypress Pond Assisted Living Center for their services.
