Tifton – Mr. Wendell Ray Turner, 68 of Tifton passed away at his residence on Saturday, February 18, 2017.
Funeral services will be held at Albritton Funeral Directors on Monday, February 20, 2017 at 3.00 P.M. with Rev. Johnny Cooper officiating. The interment will follow the service at Oakridge Cemetery. The family will receive friends before the service 12:30 P.M. until 2:30 P.M.
Randy Hogan, Johnny Lipsey, Jason Griffen, Jeff Robbins, Chris Turner and Phil Turner will serve as pallbearers.
Mr. Turner was born September 23, 1948 in Anniston, AL to the late B. T. Turner and Carrie Mae Crossley Turner. Along with his parents he was preceded in death by two sisters and three brothers. Mr. Turner moved to Tifton in 1950 and was married to Carolyn Diane Spicer Turner for forty eight years. He retired from shipping and receiving at J. P. Stevens after twenty two and a half years. His favorite activities were working in his yard, going to flea markets, yard sales and car auctions. He loved his family, especially his grand and great grandchildren and his special dog Minnie.
Along with his wife,survivors are his son Eugene Turner and his special friend Darlene Burrous and her son Luke, sisters Sue Turner Hogan Steedley and her husband J. W. of Blackshear, Betty Lee Harp of Tifton, and brother and sister in law, Ernest and Gail Turner of Tifton, grandchildren Michael and Callie Turner, Kayla and Joe Shelton, Kristen and Kirby Fender, and Lexi Harris, Great Grandchildren Kaylee Fender, Kotton Fender, Kinzley Fender, Landan Shelton and Khloe Shelton and his special friends Randy Hogan, James Shaw and Johnny Lipsey.
