Virginia Dare (Register) Exum

Mrs. Virginia Dare Register Exum, 89, of Tifton, passed away on Friday, March 24, 2023 at Tift Regional Medical Center.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday, March 28, 2023 in the chapel of Albritton Funeral Directors with Rev. Rickey Wells officiating. Interment will follow at Tift Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. on Monday, March 27, 2023 at the funeral home.

Family members will serve as pallbearers.

Mrs. Exum was born November 9, 1933 in Cook County to the late Glen Register and Estelle Smith Register. She is also preceded in death by her husband, Perry Leon Exum, her son, Leon Doyle Newbern, three brothers, Elsie Register, Ken Register and Donald Register, five sisters, Irene Stewart, Faye Williams, Betty Marshall, Joyce Zentz and Iris “Doll” Carol Register Williams. Mrs. Exum worked for R. C. Bottling Company of Tifton as Inspector. She was member of VFW Ladies Auxillary. She loved cooking, gardening and working in her flower gardens. Mrs. Exum enjoyed listening to gospel music.

Mrs. Exum is survived by her children, two daughters Diane Sumner and Darlene Jordan of Tifton; three sons, Denzil Newbern, Benny Dewayne Newbern and Ray Newbern all of Tifton; nine grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren; one great great grandchild and one sister, JoAnn Usry of Aiken, South Carolina.
