Verna Laverne (Wilson) Willis

Verna Laverne Wilson Willis, 85, of Tifton died October 05, 2016 at Rehabilitation Center of South Georgia.

Graveside service will be held on Sunday, October 09, 2016 at 2:00 PM at TyTy Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery with Elder Buck Wood officiating.

The deacons of the local Primitive Baptist Churches will serve as pallbearers.

Mrs. Willis was born on September 25, 1931 to the late Hobert and Hattie Yates Wilson in Tift County. She was married to the late Charles Cleveland Willis, whom she helped farm and manage the family grocery store in Moultrie, Willis Grocery. Mrs. Willis also was a beautician in Moultrie for many years. She enjoyed gardening, cooking and needle point.

Mrs. Willis is survived by one son, Charles Wayne Willis of Tifton; one daughter and son-in-law, Barbara Kathryn and Peter Zeitler of Raleigh NC; one granddaughter, Elisabeth Zeitler; one brother and sister-in-law, Donald and Hazel Wilson of Norman Park; four sisters and two brothers-in-law, Virginia Beasley of Tifton, Mary and Billy Williams of Moultrie, Doris Casey of TyTy, and Caroline and Phillip Bates of Sasser; and  three sisters-in-law, Dot Wilson of Tifton, Jennifer Wilson and Elizabeth Wilson.

Mrs. Willis was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Willis; four brothers, Emerson Wilson, Raymond Wilson, Bobby Wilson and Wallace Wilson and one sister, Emogene Burdette.
