Van Marcellus Frazier, 75 of Ty Ty, born on April 13,1949, in Tift County, Georgia, passed away on Friday, September 6, 2024, at Tift Regional Medical Center. He leaves behind a legacy of dedication and a deep love for his family and community.
The funeral service will take place, Wednesday, September 11, 2024, at 2:00 PM at First Baptist Church of Ty Ty, with Rev. Rodney Owens officiating. Burial will follow at First Baptist Church of Ty Ty cemetery. A visitation will be held for family and friends on Tuesday, September 10, 2024, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Albritton Funeral Directors, located at 1020 Tift Ave N, Tifton, GA 31794.
Kent Parker, Charlie Bryan, Clyde Ellis, Lamar Ellis, John Cook, Ed Bryan, and Michael Bryan will serve as pallbearers.
After serving in various positions for 31 years, Van retired as the State Equipment Manager for the Georgia Department of Transportation in 2003. At the DOT he was known for his commitment to excellence and his ability to engage with everyone around him. His strong work ethic and passion for his profession were evident throughout his career.
A proud graduate of Tift County High School, Van furthered his education at ABAC before earning a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from Southern Poly State University. His educational accomplishments laid the foundation for a successful career, but it was his character and integrity that truly defined him.
In his personal life, Van was an avid outdoors-man, cherishing time spent mowing the grass, caring for his cows, and maintaining his beloved pecan trees. He found joy in traveling around the country in his camper with his wife, exploring new places and making lasting memories. An enthusiastic sports fan, Van enjoyed watching NFL and college football, proudly supporting the Georgia Bulldogs throughout the years.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Linda Hiscock Frazier, along with his cherished daughter, Jan Frazier-Parker, and son-in-law, Kent Parker, along with Alexis Frazier his granddaughter and Kamden Parker his grandson. Additionally, he is survived by his brother and sister-in-law, Charles and Martha Frazier of Adel.
Van is preceded in death by his father, Avery J. Frazier Sr., and mother, Christine Payne Frazier. He was also preceded by his infant son, Charles Avery Frazier, and brother, Avery J. Frazier Jr., as well as his sister and brother-in-law, Linda Blass and Ron Blass.
Van Marcellus Frazier will be remembered for his dedication to family, faith, and service. His spirit and influence will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
