Troy "Layton" Hampton, Jr., 50, a cherished member of the Tifton community, passed away on October 15, 2024, at the Tift Regional Medical Center. He was born on August 23, 1974, in Tifton, Georgia, and grew up to embody the values of hard work, dedication, and love of family.
A private graveside service will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, October 19, 2024 at Oakridge Cemetery with Rev. John Hughes officiating and Jon Garrett delivering the eulogy. No public visitation will be held.
Mike Gailey, Jon Garrett, Ken Martin, Randy Spivey, Richard Ragan and Eddie Gibbs will serve as pallbearers.
Layton had a fulfilling career as a copier technician for twenty-seven years with Ashley's Business Solutions. His colleagues there became like family, and he found joy in collaborating with them daily. His warm spirit and commitment to his work left an indelible mark on those who had the pleasure of working with him.
A proud graduate of Tift County High School, Layton further pursued his education at Valdosta State University, where he earned his Bachelor's degree. His education served as a foundation for the many accomplishments he achieved throughout his professional journey.
As a devoted family man, Layton cherished the time spent with his wife, Wendy Spivey Hampton, and their children, Ashlyn and Ty. He particularly looked forward to their family trips, creating lasting memories that they will hold dearly in their hearts. He was known as the best grill person, he often gathered family and friends around to enjoy delicious meals, exemplifying his passion for hospitality and entertaining.
Layton had a diverse range of hobbies and interests that reflected his love for the outdoors. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending time outside, embracing the beauty of nature. An avid sports fan, he passionately supported the Clemson Tigers and followed Nascar racing, displaying an enthusiasm that was infectious to those around him.
He is survived by his loving wife, Wendy; daughter, Ashlyn Hampton and son, Ty Hampton; father and mother, Troy Layton Hampton, Sr., and Linda Willis Hampton, along with his treasured Goldendoodle “Murray”. He is preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Eddie and Janet Willis, and his paternal grandparents, Isaac and Woodie Hampton.
The Hampton family would like to thank the amazing ICU staff at Southwell Medical Center for their exceptional care and compassion. Special thanks to Sara, Ketra, Amanda, Cole, Kaylee, Dominique, and Bailey.
