Mr. Timothy “Tim” Harrison McRae, 76, of Chula, passed away on Friday, March 24, 2023.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Thursday, March 30, 2023 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints of Tifton with Bishop Todd Brey, Mr. Don Coates and Mr. Derrell Spikes officiating. Interment will follow at 2:00 P.M. at Oak Hill Cemetery, 961 E. Oglesby Avenue, Quitman, GA., 31643. The family will receive friends Wednesday, March 29, 2023 from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. at Albritton Funeral Directors.
Pallbearers will be Chris Ledger, Jeremy Little, Ray Merritt, Chris Strickland,, Mike Watts and Wingate Whitley of the Tift County Sheriffs Department; Honorary pallbearers will be Tift County Sheriffs Department and Boy Scouts of America, South Georgia Council.
Mr. McRae was born December 16, 1946 in Brooks County to the late Harry Roe McRae and Lillian West McRae. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Brian Chandler McRae. Brian died August 28, 2018. Mr. McRae was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. After high school, Tim joined the Navy and later graduated from ABAC with a law enforcement degree. Tim was a hero and community servant in Tift County. He was active in law enforcement from 1969 to 2011. As a child, he was very active in the Boy Scouts of America and the Eagle Scouts and continued to volunteer all during his life. Tim loved the outdoors and camping along with teaching firearms to the youth in the community and other fellow law enforcement. He always wanted to give back to his community all while seeing the good in everyone. He served on several recreation department boards and scouting boards.
Mr. McRae is survived by his wife, Iris McRae of Chula; his children, Shawn (Shelley) McRae of Ashburn, Jarrett (Jessica) McRae of Madison, AL., Daniel (Rachel) McRae of Germany, and Blake (Charlie) McRae of Tifton; Whitney (Griffin) Van Brackle of Sycamore; his grandchildren, Zhane McRae, Bryce McRae, Gabriel Van Brackle, Matthew McRae, Addison McRae, Madison McRae, Lillian Van Brackle, Dahlia McRae, Woodrow McRae, Miles McRae and Maxwell McRae; his brother and sister-in-law, Tony and Marsha McRae of Hahira.
