Before Alzheimer's disease altered the course of her life, Sylvia was known for her hard work and dedication. She co-owned Dixon Plumbing with her late husband, Bronzal Franklin Dixon, Sr., who left this world on July 24, 1998. Sylvia also served the community through her work at the Tift County Board of Elections and as a Pharmacy Clerk. She was always eager to lend a helping hand to wherever she could.Sylvia’s academic journey began at Tifton High School, from which she graduated in 1958. She continued her education at Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College, completing her studies in 1961.
A sweet Christian lady, Sylvia devoted herself to her faith and to her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. She was a member of Pine Hill Baptist Church and previously a member of Grace Baptist. She sang in the church choir, served as a Sunday School Teacher and held many other positions of service. Her kindness and nurturing spirit were felt not only by her family but also in her church, where she left an indelible mark.
When her health permitted, Sylvia found joy in cooking for her family and listening to gospel music. These simple pleasures reflected her generous heart and her love for bringing people together around the table, sharing both food and fellowship.
Sylvia is survived by her loving daughters and sons-in-law, Teresa and Ron Myers, Judy and Michael Rodriguez, and Kristy and Dewayne Franks. Her family continues with the adoring presence of her favorite grandchildren, including Tim Whittington, Kyle Whittington, Rebecca Marshall, Jimmi King, Jonas Gardner, Trevor Gardner, Claire Franks, Rachel Franks and Drue Dixon, along with eight great-grandchildren, her sister, Joyce Holton and her brother, Johnny M. Goff, a host of others who knew and called her Nana and numerous nieces and nephews who will carry on her legacy of love.
She was predeceased by her husband of thirty-four years, Bronzal; her son, Bronzal Franklin Dixon, Jr.; her granddaughter, Danielle Dixon Flanders ,her parents, Levy and Rebecca Capps Goff; and her siblings, June Goff, David Goff, and Morris Goff. Each of these individuals shaped her life deeply, and she now rejoices with them in eternity. As we remember Sylvia Dixon, we celebrate her life—a life filled with love, compassion, and faith. Her spirit will continue to guide those she has left behind, reminding them to share kindness, cherish family, and hold steadfast to their beliefs. Though she is no longer with us, Sylvia will forever remain in our hearts, eternally singing along with the angels in heaven.
