Steve Harrell

Steve F. Harrell - dedicated husband, father, grandfather, and friend - passed away surrounded by his family at his home in Tifton on Friday, October 28, 2022.

Please join the family at his memorial visitation in the chapel of Albritton Funeral Directors on Tuesday evening, November 1, 2022, from 5:00 P.M. - 7:00 P.M .

Steve was born to Frank and Marthel Harrell in Tifton, GA on June 29, 1950. He graduated from Tift County High School in 1968 before attending Brewton Parker College, where he played baseball. He then started his forty plus year career at Plant Telephone.

Steve met his wife, Dianne, in the summer of 1974 and they married on December 14 that same year. In 1976, they welcomed their first child, Deanne. Their son, Bryce, completed the family in 1979. Steve and Dianne were dedicated to each other for forty-eight years.

Through the years, Steve enjoyed fishing, hunting, playing golf, watching NASCAR, baseball, and football, and spending time with his family. He loved his annual deep sea fishing trip with his best friend and teasing his grandchildren.

Being a grandpa came naturally to Steve. His grandkids loved his neck kisses with the tickly scratch of his mustache. He loved playing with the kids and teaching them how to kick a football and throw a baseball for as long as he could. They loved “getting caught” by him so he could give them a giant bear hug and tickles.

Steve was preceded in death by his father, mother, and sister, Willadean. He is survived by his wife, Dianne; their children Deanne (Robby) King and Bryce (Kaye); four grandchildren, Jackson, Cody, Eli, and Lily.

Steve lost his battle against Alzheimer’s after a long fight. His family wishes to extend a special thanks to the dedicated staff of Homestead Hospice, especially Jennifer Brown, Loretta Kitchens, Gail Dailey and Teresa Jordan.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Alzheimer's Association 2402 North Tift Ave., Suite # 102, Tifton, GA 31794, or Homestead Hospice 110 East 10th St., Suite A, Tifton, GA 31794  as a tribute gift in his memory.
