Sonya Jennifer (Hancock) Vafias

Sonya Jennifer Hancock Vafias, 40, of Tifton died Tuesday, May 22, 2017 at Archbold Memorial Hospital in Thomasville.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 27, 2017 at 4:00pm in the chapel of Albritton Funeral Directors with Rev. Shirley Strawter, Rev. B.J. Funk and Rev. Gary Cadwell officiating. Interment will follow at Tift Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6-8pm on Friday, May 26 at the funeral home.

Mrs. Vafias was born on September 21, 1976 in Leesburg, Florida to Shirley Hullett Hancock of Tifton and the late Hayward Hancock. She was married to Tommy Vafias of Tifton. Mrs. Vafias attended Tift County Schools and was employed by Carr, Riggs and Ingram, LLC as an administrative assistant. She enjoyed going to Georgia Bulldog football games, traveling and spending time with her mother and step son, Joe. Mrs. Vafias especially loved her fur babies, Harley and Miley.

In addition to her husband and mother, Mrs. Vafias is survived by two brothers and sisters-in-law, Chris and Samantha Hancock of Oak Harbor, Washington and Chad and Linda Hancock of Tifton; one step son, Joe Vafias of Tifton; four nieces, Alex and Tristan Riley, Ashley Hancock and fiancé Reed Bennett, Nicole Hancock and fiancé Caleb Atkins and Emmie Hancock; and two nephews, Rocky and Delaina Hancock and Sebastian Hancock.
