Mrs. Shirley Jean Peterman Flynt passed away on Friday, March 2, 2018 at Tift Regional Medical Center.
Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, March 5th in Oakridge Cemetery with Rev. Paul Thomas officiating. No formal visitation will be held.
Mrs. Flynt was born April 27, 1939 in Smithonia, Georgia to the late Tommy Peterman and Gaynelle Stewart Peterman. She was preceded in death by her husband Olliff “Ollie” Park Flynt who died September 20, 2009 and two sons, Michael Lee Flynt and Gerald Thomas “Jerry” Flynt. Mrs. Flynt had lived most of her life in Tifton and was a member of First Baptist Church of Tifton. She graduated from Meigs High School then became a full-time mother and homemaker. She loved her family and was dedicated to their well-being. She loved working in her yard, studying genealogy and was an avid crossword puzzle solver. Mrs. Flynt loved her Maple Court family and staff. The family wishes to thank them for their dedication.
Mrs. Flynt is survived by her son Jeffrey Flynt of Macon; her daughter-in-law, Stacey Flynt of Tifton; five grandchildren, Ashton Elizabeth Flynt, Reed Thomas Flynt, Ansley Anne Culver, Allison Elise Flynt and Jacob Andrew Flynt and several great grandchildren; two sisters and brother-in-law, Joan Ray of Thomasville, Marie and Bobby Shiver of Warner Robins; one sister-in-law, Kitsy Blanchard of Irmo, South Carolina. She is also survived by her special friend and caregiver, Renna Kegley.
