Shirley Martiel (Wynn) Carr

TIFTON — Mrs. Shirley Martiel Wynn Carr, 88, of Tifton, died Thursday, Jan. 12, 2017 at Cypress Pond. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 14, 2017 in the chapel of Albritton Funeral Directors with the Elder Charles Tyson and Rev. Michael Marchant officiating. Burial will follow at Oakridge Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 13, 2017 at Albritton Funeral Directors.

Pallbearers will be Wendell Westbrook, Tripp Morris, Evan Morris, Hamp Jones, Randy Carr, Keith Carr, Chuck Tyson and Stanley Carr.

Mrs. Carr was born Aug. 31, 1928, to James William and Nancy Jane Alexander Wynn both deceased, in Berrien County. Along with her parents she was preceded in death by eleven siblings and her husband of sixty four and a half years, E. Dalton Carr who died Nov. 4, 2010. Mrs. Carr was the youngest of the thirteen Wynn children. She was a resident of Tift County for most of her adult life and graduated from Tifton High School. During her early years she worked for Patrick Pecan Co. then for Doctors W. F. and Charles Zimmerman medical practice. As a devoted wife, she co-owned and helped her husband in the grocery business for twenty eight years at Eastside Superette. As a dedicated member of New River Baptist Church before her health failed her, she served as a choir member and she was very involved in the new building landscape project. She loved gardening, receiving garden spot of the month honors, cooking, sewing, and watching Atlanta Braves Baseball.

Survivors include, her son and daughter-in-law, David and Linda Mathis Carr of Warner Robins, daughter and son-in-law, Donna and Chip Morris of Tifton, and her grandchildren Laura and Hamp Jones, Tripp Morris, and Evan Morris, and sister; Lillie Wynn Greenwald of Kernersville, NC., brotherin-law and sister-in-law Larry and Kay Carr, Sisterin-law, Marthalyn Carr, all of Tifton, brother-in-law and sister-in-law Monroe and Janie Carr of Newnan, sister-in-law, Joyce "Faye" Bryant of Norman Park and brother -in-law and sister-in -law, Morris and Janice Luke of The Villages, Fl.
