Sherrye Chambers

Sherrye Chambers, of Tifton, passed away in the early hours of Thursday morning at Tift Regional Medical Center. Ms. Chambers was 61 years old.

A veteran chemistry and science teacher of over 30 years in Georgia and South Carolina, Ms. Chambers received numerous commendations and honors including Star Teacher in three different counties and the Tift County Teacher of Excellence award.  Ms. Chambers taught her students the way she lived her life…with the expectation of excellence.

Ms. Chambers had a passion for traveling, gardening, animals and the Georgia Bulldogs. In her lifetime, Ms. Chambers was able to travel with close friends to numerous continents and destinations, and cherished her 3 dogs, Dandy, Dusty and Dixie; who all precede her in death.

She attended ABAC, Valdosta State, and the University of Georgia for her college education. She was a member of Ridge Avenue Church of Christ.

Ms. Chambers is survived by her mother, Marie Collins Chambers of Tifton, her two brothers, Harold (Mary) Chambers of Tifton and Randall (Cheryl) Chambers of Omaha, NE; two nieces, Kate Chambers of Tifton and Georgia Chambers of Omaha, NE; a nephew, Randy Chambers of Tifton and Sheen Rogers, her sister by choice and many other close friends. She was preceded in death by her father, Ralph Chambers from Tifton.

Funeral services will be held at 3pm on Saturday, August 12, 2017 in the chapel of Albritton Funeral Directors. The family will receive friends on Saturday from 1:30-2:45 pm before the service.

As an avid gardener, Ms. Chambers loved flowers, but those wishing to make a monetary donation may do so to Tift Regional Medical Center Foundation P.O. Box 747 Tifton, Georgia 31793. These funds will be used to help employees of the medical center who wish to further their educatio n.
