Mrs. Sara Delores Jackson Davis, 91, of Tifton, passed away on Monday, August 31, 2020 at her residence.
A Memorial service will be held Thursday, September 3, 2020 at 11:00 A.M. in the chapel of Albritton Funeral Directors with Rev. Chip Grantham officiating.
Mrs. Davis was born November 20, 1928 in Jacksonville, Georgia to the late Thomas Hardy Jackson and Alberta Johnson Jackson. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Edward “Ed” Davis, Sr., who died May 5, 2013, two brothers, Hardy Jackson and Roy Jackson, Sr., five sisters, Millicent DeShazo, Ellen Hearn, Ruby Rush, Frances Calhoun and Ethel Martin. Mrs. Davis had lived in Tifton since 1957. She was a graduate of Lanier High School for Girls in Macon, Georgia. Mrs. Sara was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Tifton. She was active in her church and believed in her daily devotions. She was an avid reader and loved to keep her yards beautiful. During the mid-seventies through the early 90’s she was the owner of “The Golden Door” in downtown Tifton where she made many lasting friendships. Mrs. Sara was very community minded and active with her neighbors in Northgate Lake Subdivision. She was known by everyone as “Miss Sadie”. She could be described as an independent spirit with a sharp wit and a strong will. She loved her family and was so proud of her only granddaughter. Miss “Sadie” always said of herself that “I love people and people love me”.
Mrs. Davis is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Charles Edward “Woody” Davis, Jr., and his wife Deborah Johnson Davis of Tifton; her granddaughter, Dr. Ashlee Lauren Davis of Greenville, South Carolina; her sisters, Betty Webb of Valdosta, Georgia, Martha Andrews of Jacksonville, Florida and JoAnn Preston of Greensboro, North Carolina.
The family would like to give their appreciation to Patty Cooper, Home Instead Ladies, Judy Hester, Erin Gannon, Penny Hardwood, Gigi Livingston, Theresa Sands and Martha Ayers and Hospice of Tiftarea Nurses and CNA’s for the care and love they gave Mrs. Sara during her illness.
