Ruth Virginia Gibbs

Ruth Virginia Gibbs, passed away on Sunday, December 17, 2023, surrounded by her loving family at Southwell Health and Rehabilitation in Adel, Georgia.

No services are scheduled at this time.  A private family gathering will be held at a later date.

She was born on November 14, 1930, to the late Clarence Eugene Brown and Lonice Blount Brown in Cook County, Georgia. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Albert Brown, Homer Brown, her grandson, Michael Freeman Holt and her son-in-law James Marcus Holt.

Throughout her life, Ruth made a significant impact on those around her. She dedicated many years of her career to working diligently at J. P. Stevens and The Georgia Agrirama, where she displayed unwavering commitment and a strong work ethic.

Outside of work, Ruth found joy in various hobbies and interests. She had a passion for fishing in her daughter's pond and enjoyed the tranquility that the activity provided. Additionally, she found solace in tending to her vegetable garden, nurturing plants that brought beauty and sustenance to her home. Ruth also had an adventurous spirit and loved traveling to the mountains, where she appreciated the stunning beauty and the serenity of nature.

She survived by her children, Margaret Holt of Lenox, Della Allen and Tony (son-in-law) of Hilham, Tennessee, as well as Scott Gibbs of Lenox, Georgia. She is also survived by her sister Mary Lou Griffin of Nashville, Georgia, along with eleven grandchildren, twenty-one great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild, who were recipients of her love and affection, Additional she had several nieces and nephews who were touched by her kindness throughout their lives.

Ruth Virginia Gibbs was a woman of integrity, love, and strength. May her soul find eternal peace, and may we find solace in the memories of a life well-lived.
