Roger “Rock” Henry Overton, 71, born on September 14, 1953, in Franklin, Georgia, passed away on October 9, 2024, at Wellstar - West Georgia Hospice in LaGrange. He was a beloved figure in his community, known for his warm spirit and dedication to his family and work.
A graveside service was held at 2:00 P.M. on Sunday, October 13, 2024 at Tift Memorial Gardens in Tifton: The Swanson Family delivered the eulogy.
Sam Cook, Brantin Swanson, Brody Swanson, Brennen Swanson, Bobby Sutton and Mason Tribble will serve as pallbearers.
Roger retired from NOK, Inc., where he served as a commercial electrician supervisor showcasing his commitment to his profession throughout his career. He was a proud graduate of Fitzgerald High School, where he played high school baseball with the Hurricanes.
In his personal life, Roger had a gentle demeanor and a vibrant personality. He particularly enjoyed indulging in sweets and cherished the companionship of his dogs. He had a passion for golf, frequented casinos, rode Harley Davidson motorcycles, and had an unwavering love for classic country music, watching Nascar racing and all major league baseball especially the Dodgers, these activities brought him joy and fulfillment.
Roger is survived by his loving children, Holly Tribble (Michael) of Carrollton, Kelly Swanson (Hilton) of LaGrange, and Wesley Overton of Chattanooga, Tennessee. His legacy continues through his grandchildren, Mason Tribble, Allie Tribble, Brantin Swanson, Brody Swanson, Brennen Swanson, and Harlee Overton, all of whom will forever hold cherished memories of their time with him.
He is also survived by his sisters and brother-in-law, Debbie and Joe Lawrence of Tifton and Becky Davis of Tifton, as well as his brother, Lonnie Webb of Homerville.
Roger was preceded in death by his father, Henry Lee Overton; his mother, Loree Messer Overton; and his brothers, Jerry Overton and Terry Overton.
