Robert Larry Lamb went to be with the Lord Saturday, June 5, 2021, at Navicent Health Center in Macon, Ga.
Funeral services will be held, Thursday, June 10, 2021 at 2:00 P.M. at Omega Baptist Church with Rev. Allen Mullis officiating. Interment will follow in Salem Baptist Church Cemetery with Dr. Wayne Roe officiating and Military Honors will be rendered. The family will receive friends Wednesday, June 9, 2021 from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
Eddie Dunn, Mike Davis, Andy Hornbuckle, Steve Whittington, Kenny Swain, Earnest Harris, Jim Wheeler and Tom Skinner will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Trummie Patrick, Sara Alice McCrary, Helen Patrick, Larry Dunn, Jimmy Holton, Jr., Tommy Hornbuckle, Emmett Bowers, Jimmy Allen, Bryan Truelove, Jerry Lupo, John Cook, David Keith, Glenn Willis, Laverne Whittington, Ann Johnson, Johnny Dunn Ray, Moorman John Ewing and Brent Savelli.
He was born in Tifton on March 24, 1945 to A.F. “Yank” and Ione Powell Lamb. Along with his parents he is preceded in death by his sister, Marie.
After graduating from Omega High School, Mr. Lamb went on to further his education at the Georgia Institute of Technology. After he graduated Officer’s Candidate School in Fort Benning he began to serve his country. In Vietnam, he served in Military Intelligence (CICV) where he earned the rank of 1st Lieutenant.
Along with his wife, Vicki, he was involved in multiple business endeavors. He constructed commercial buildings in Tift and surrounding counties through Lamb Construction, receiving numerous awards. He leased commercial properties through Commercial Leasing Associates, Lamb Leasing, and Corporate Leasing and Investments. Through these, he contributed to the economic growth and success of the Tift area. Mr. Lamb was a well-respected member of his community, serving first on the city council then as Mayor of Omega, Ga.
He was very dedicated to his church, Omega Baptist, where he served as a deacon, Sunday school teacher, Royal Ambassador Leader and choir member. It was there that he held a monthly Prayer Breakfast on Saturday mornings. To everyone that knew him it was evident that he loved God and his family.
He is survived by his wife, Evelyn Victoria “Vicki” Lamb of forty-six and half years; his children, Stacey (Render) Heard and Clay (Laurel) Lamb; grandchildren Grant, Alexandria “Boo” and Gabriella “Half Pint and his sister, Cecile Gillard.
The family will accept flowers or donations may be made to Omega Baptist Church, PO Box 368, Omega, Ga., 31775.
