Rita Kay (Stripling) Edenfield

Rita Kay Stripling Edenfield, 67, of Tifton, passed away on Sunday, December 31, 2017 at Tift Regional Medical Center.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, January 3, 2018, 11:00am at Mt. Zion Baptist Church with the Rev. Larry Layfield officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Zion Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 9:30 to 10:30am before the services at the church.
Keith Dees, Dr. Jim Scott, Dr. Robbie Thornsberry, Austin Stripling, John Stripling and Derrick Jones will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be her caregivers, Linda Deshazer, Pat Blackmon, Susie Collins, Terri Stephens, Georgia Roberts, Sabrina Roberts and Tammy Jackson.
Mrs. Edenfield was born on May 31, 1950 to the late Ossie H. Stripling and Lucy Milam Stripling. She was married to James H. “Jim” Edenfield who died in 2003. They were married for twenty-five years. Mrs. Edenfield was member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church and had lived in Tift County most of her life. She graduated from Tift County High School and Ga. Baptist School of Nursing. She was a retired Registered Nurse. Mrs. Edenfield enjoyed taking care of others and going to the beach. She loved her dog Mai-Ling.
Mrs. Edenfield is survived by one sister, Janice Stripling Moore of Tifton; one brother and sister-in-law, Randy and Jackie Stripling of Tifton; two sisters-in-law, Shirley Stripling and Amelia Stripling of Tifton; four nieces, Starling and Dr. Robbie Thornsberry, Vicki and Keith Dees, Holly and Dr. Jim Scott, Anna Stripling; one nephew, John and Heather Stripling; four great nieces, Victoria Dees, Krystina Dees, Emmy Thornsberry, Maggie Thornsberry; one great nephew, Austin Stripling; one step-son, Steve Edenfield of Illinois; one step-daughter, Susie Ross of Illinois.
