Richard "Dicky" Elwood Carter

Mr. Richard “ Dicky” Elwood Carter, 75, of Tifton, passed away on Wednesday, January 11, 2023 at his residence.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Friday, January 13, 2023 at Salem Baptist Church with Reverend Andy Ring. Burial will follow at Salem Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 P.M. – 8:00 P.M., Thursday, January 12, 2023, at Albritton Funeral Directors.

Pallbearers are, Carter Ring, Garritt Lupo, Mike Fulghum, Roy Carter, Sal Abate, Gary Lupo, Luke Carter, Wesley Hodnett, and Josh Roberts. Honorary Pallbearers are Employees of UPS current and retires, active and inactive deacons of Salem Baptist Church, and Gene Green.

Mr. Carter was born September 1, 1947 in Valdosta, GA to the late Leroy L. Carter Jr. and Ella Mae Hiers Carter.

Mr. Carter was known for being a strong Christian man, loving his grandchildren, serving his church, and being able to build anything. Before his career at UPS as a package driver of thirty years, he was employed at Long Manufacturing. He enjoyed water skiing and playing on the UPS softball team. After retirement he enjoyed raising cows as his hobby. He is a former deacon, church treasurer, Sunday school director, and training union director at Salem Baptist Church.

Mr. Carter is survived by his wife of fifty-five years, Brenda Moorman Carter, Tifton, GA; Three daughters and sons-in-laws, Stacy and Andy Ring, Tifton, GA; Kim and Sal Abate, Tifton, GA; Kay and Gary Lupo, Tifton, GA; two brothers and one sister-in-law, Bruce Carter, Statesboro, GA; Randy and Belinda Carter, Tifton, GA; one sister and brother-in-law, Carolyn and D.L. Lastinger, Tifton, GA; Grandchildren, Carter and Morgan Ring; Britney Barfield; Alli and Wesley Hodnett; Garritt Lupo; Kaylee Lupo; Brooklyn Abate; Ella Abate; and his great grandchild, Oakley Ring along with many nieces and nephews.
