Mr. Reid Andrew Wilson, Jr. aka “Buddy or Bull”, 85 of the Shingler Community died Saturday, October 15, 2022 at his residence in Worth County.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, October 18, 2022, at 2:00 P.M. at First Baptist Church of Chula with Rev. Landon Alberson officiating. The family will receive friends at the church before the service from 1:00 – 1:45 P.M. The burial will follow at Hickory Springs Baptist Church.
Robert Padgett, Jamy Henderson, Derick Henderson, Britt Wilson, Justin Wilson and Bryan Spradley will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Wayne Branch, Thom Roberson, Syd Roberson, Grady Pearman, Brad Padgett, Robert Padgett, Brad Brownlee, Phillip Hankins, Johnny Bradford, and Travis Fletcher.
Mr. Wilson was born November 15, 1936 in Tift County. He attended Tift County High School, ABAC and graduated from the University of Georgia with a BS in Agriculture. He then married Carolyn Jean Spradley on June 3, 1962. After graduation from UGA he came back to Tift county where he owned and operated The Produce Patch in Tifton formerly on the corner of Tift Ave. and 8th St., along with his wife and sons. His passion was always farming, which he had done most of his life. He later worked at Georgia Vegetable Co. until he retired. He was a member of Georgia Farm Bureau, The Cattlemen’s Association and the Tift county 4-H Club. He served in the Georgia National Guard and he was a member of First Baptist Church of Chula where he served as a deacon and Sunday School teacher. He enjoyed his service at the church especially visiting the sick.
Mr. Wilson was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. Reid A. Wilson, Sr. and Mary Louise Gibbs Wilson, a brother, Mr. Stanley Gibbs Wilson, sister Geneva Wilson Hill, father-in-law Othan Roscoe Spradley, mother-in-law Mildred Irene Hammock Spradley, two brothers-in-law Ronald Hill, and Alan Spradley, a sister-in-law Laura Spradley, a niece DeeDee Henderson Cavanaugh and a nephew Nathan Mancil.
He is survived by his wife, Carolyn Jean Spradley Wilson, three sons and daughter-in-law Reid “Drew” and Shirley Wilson, III of Tifton, Joseph W. Wilson and Leigh Ann Jackson of Nashville and William Adam Wilson of Shingler. Three brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Royce and Barbara Henderson of Tifton, Randall and Phyllis Spradley of Tifton, and Lee and Wylene Watts of Kennesaw, two grandsons Britt and Ariel Wilson and Justin and Lindy Wilson, two grand-daughters Taylor and Ty McDowell and Tristin Brooke Wilson and three great grandchildren, Brielle Wilson, Bryleigh Wilson and Britt Ellis Wilson, Jr. along with several nieces and nephew.
