Mrs. Peggy Lawson, 80 of Tifton, formerly of Chula, died Saturday, August 10, 2019, at Tifton Health and Rehabilitation Center.
Graveside funeral services will be held at Mt. Zion Baptist Church Cemetery in Chula on Wednesday, August 14, 2019, at 11:00 A.M. with Rev Jimmy Albritton officiating. The family will receive friends on Tuesday evening, August 13, 2019, at Albritton Funeral Directors from 7:00 P.M. - 9:00 P.M.
Mrs. Lawson's grandsons, her great grandson and her nephew will serve as the pallbearers.
She was born on October 18, 1938, in Tift County, where she had lived most of her life. She was the daughter of the late Clinton Stripling and Odell Cromer Stripling. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Virgil Bronzell Lawson, her sisters; Helen Scoggins, and Mary Nell Pearman, and her granddaughter; Billie Denise Webb.
Mrs. Peggy graduated from Tifton High School and she was a member of Mt. Zion Church. As a homemaker she loved reading, cooking, sewing, crocheting and traveling to visit family, but her passion was caring for children. Many children were entrusted to her care over the years.
She is survived by her two daughters; Carmen Lawson Webb of Chula, Laurie Lawson Haswell of Chula, two sons; Clinton Edward and Cris Lawson of Chula, and Tony Bronzell and Barbara Lawson of Chula. She has nine grandchildren; Shellie Webb, Brandi Slocumb, Jason Rice, Carl Dean Rice, Clint Lawson, Will Lawson, Samuel Lawson, Claire Lawson, and Sarah Lawson along with five great grandchildren.
