Mr. Otis Herbert, Jones, Jr., 94, of Tifton, went home to be with his Lord, Sunday, April 25, 2021 at his residence.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, April 28, 2021 at 11:00 A.M. at Albritton Funeral Directors Chapel with Rev. Andy Ring officiating. Mr. Johnny Crawford will deliver the eulogy. Interment will follow at Oakridge Cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 10:00 to 10:45 A.M. before the service at the funeral home.

The pallbearers will be Kevin Ray, Walter Kegley, Gary Hall, Johnny Crawford, Bill Daniell and Ron Hooks.

Mr. Jones was born April 4, 1927 in Omega to the late Otis Herbert Jones, Sr., and Betty Griner Jones. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Jackie Jones who died February 19, 2020 to whom he was married for sixty-six years at her death, three brothers, Willis Jones, Virgil Jones and Raymond Jones. Mr. Jones was a member of Northside Baptist Church of Tifton for over fifty years. He graduated from Omega High School in 1944. He was retired from United States Postal Service after fifty years. Growing up he worked on the farm for his dad and at fifteen, he ran the school store. At sixteen he drove the school bus. During the summer, he worked at the canning plant and railway express loading plants. He also worked part-time at the hardware store in Moultrie. At seventeen, he joined the Navy. After training, he was assigned to the USS Turandot ship. He was a petty officer second class and the aviation storekeeper. After WWII, he worked three years for the DOT, got a degree in broadcast engineering from South GA Tech College and a business degree from Herring Business School. Mr. Jones worked for WCTV in Tallahassee as an engineer and at the radio station WWGS. He earned a degree in radio and tv repair from the National Radio Institute. He owned and operated Tifton Background Music Service for twenty years, as well as a radio and tv repair service.

Mr. Jones is survived by one son and daughter-in-law Marshall Gregory (Greg) and Patsy Jones of Kingsland,  one daughter Charlotte Regina (Gina) Jones Richardson of Tifton; grandchildren, Timothy and Denise Jones of Jacksonville, Florida, Devae Richardson of Tifton, Taylor and Felicia Richardson of Tifton, great grandchildren, Luna Jones of Jacksonville, Florida,  Luke Jones of Jacksonville, Florida,  Hayden Hatfield of Tifton and Jones Richardson of Tifton along with special cousin, Norma Boyd; many loving nieces, nephews, extended family members including  his sister-in-law Sandra Pearce Mercer of Omega and best friend, Lamar Cameron.

The family would like to give special thanks to the staff of Cypress Pond Senior Care, Hospice of Tift Area, Hospice Volunteers, Don Pirkle, Barbara Hollingsworth, Shubha Chatterjee and caregivers for their special care.
