Nelda Jean (Moore) Jones

Mrs. Nelda Jean Moore Jones, 80, of Tifton passed away on Thursday, January 20, 2022 at her residence.

A Graveside service will be held Sunday, January 23, 2022 at 2:00 P.M. at Tift Memorial Gardens with Rev. Glenn Ford officiating. A eulogy will be given by Sandy Hester. The family will receive friends following the graveside service at Tift Memorial Gardens. Casual dress is accepted by the family.

Jeff Thompson, Andy Thompson, Jeffery Thompson, Drew Thompson, Roy Cooper and Ely Cooper will serve as pallbearers.

Mrs. Jones was born November 14, 1941 in Tift County to the late Arthur Willis Moore and Emogene Herndon Moore. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Larry Jones, Jr. Mrs. Jones was a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church in Kelltown and had lived in Tift County all of her life. She was a dental hygienist in Tifton for several dentists. Following her career as a hygienist she worked for many years in the business office at Tift Regional Medical Center. Miss Nelda enjoyed traveling with her family to the beach. She was a wonderful mother and grandmother who also enjoyed her many loyal friends. She enjoyed Facebook, watching TV and talking to friends on the telephone. Miss Nelda was known as “Aunt Nell” to many.

Mrs. Jones is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Gina and Jeff Thompson and Myra and Andy Thompson all of Tifton; three grandchildren, Jeffery Thompson, Jacey Thompson and Drew Thompson. She is also survived by the father of her children, Larry Jones, Sr. and his wife Susan.
