Nancy Anita Sumner Holley, a beloved figure in her community, passed away on March 25, 2025, at Cypress Pond in Tifton, Georgia. Born on May 3, 1955, in Tifton, Nancy was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and sister. She lived a life characterized by love and dedication to her family and friends.
A graveside service will be held 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, March 29, 2025 at Oakridge Cemetery with Mr. Harold Chambers officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. on Friday, March 28, 2025 at Albritton Funeral Directors.
Harlie Townson, Blair Veazey, Drew Berger, Ricky Ray, Matthew Palmer and Walker Lasseter will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be the staff of Stephens Wrecker Service and Holley Transport, Inc.
Nancy had a remarkable career as an administrative assistant to the president of South Georgia Banking Company, where she contributed her skills and expertise for 28 years. A proud graduate of Tift County High School, her education laid the foundation for a lifelong commitment to excellence in all she did.
Beyond her professional life, Nancy had a variety of interests that brought her great joy. She was passionate about gardening and spent many happy hours working in her yards. She enjoyed watching and attending NASCAR races with her husband, Gene Holley, embracing every moment they shared. Nancy was also an active participant in her bowling league, relishing the camaraderie it provided.
A keen cook and decorator, Nancy opened her home each year for a Christmas open house, sharing warmth and cheer with family and friends. Following her retirement, she took delight in joining her husband, whom she lovingly referred to as her "sidekick," on wrecker calls. As an avid fan of the Georgia Bulldogs, she demonstrated a spirited loyalty to her team.
Nancy's family was at the center of her universe. She is survived by her husband Gene Holley and her children Brandon and his wife (Jessi) along with her grandchildren Athens Hayes Holley and Chapel Belle Holley. Her siblings are Tim Sumner and Aubrey (Dana) Sumner, as well as her sisters Patsy (Roger) Buffi, Donna Sumner, and Sharon (Steven) Cooper. She also leaves behind brothers-in-law Darrell Arrington, Jerry Holley, and Carl (Elizabeth) Holley, along with several nieces, nephews, and extended family members who will all miss her dearly.
Nancy was predeceased by her father Charlie Elwood Sumner, her mother Juanita Powell Sumner, and her sister Gail Arrington.
The family expresses heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Cypress Pond, Traditions Health Hospice, and Palliative Care for their compassionate support during this time. Nancy's memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew her, a beacon of love and kindness that will never be forgotten.
