Morris E St John

Morris Ervin St. John, 93, of Tifton, Georgia passed away on Thursday, September 21, 2017 at Tifton Health & Rehab Center.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, September 26 at 2:00pm in Zion Hope Baptist Church with Rev. Steve Davis officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:30 to 1:45pm before the service at the church.

Mr. St. John was born on March 19, 1924 in Mitchell County, Ga to the late Morris Harris St. John and Trudy Crosby St. John.  He married Mattie Lou Gregory St. John on January 9, 1945. Mr. St. John is an WWII veteran who served US Army. He was a member of Zion Hope Baptist Church where he was very active and  served as a deacon, Sunday school teacher and training union director. He loved his family, fishing and working in his yards.

In addition to his wife, Mr. St. John is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Tommy and Priscilla St. John of Eldorado; one daughter, Peggy Rutland of Tifton; four grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

Mr. St. John was preceded in death by one son-in-law, Wayne Rutland; five brothers and three sisters.
