Minnie Lee (King) Hampton, 71, formerly of Tifton, passed away November 20, 2022, at Southeast Georgia Health System in Brunswick, Ga.
A graveside memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, January 7, 2023, at Waterloo Baptist Church cemetery, with Rev. Donnie Wright officiating.
Minnie was born February 9, 1951, to the late Charlie B. King and Julie M. (Evers) King and she graduated from Irwin County High School. In addition to her parents, Minnie was predeceased by her sister, Betty King Taylor. She lived in Tifton most of her adult life until moving to Brunswick in 2014 to be closer to her beloved granddaughter.
Minnie was known for her warm disposition, kind heart, and smile that lit up every room she entered. Minnie quickly made those around her feel comfortable and at home. She was an excellent gardener, cook, and seamstress. Always a nurturer, she loved caring for her pets and frequently took care of stray animals. Young people were Minnie’s greatest joy in life: her own children, Amy and Adam, her granddaughter, Amelia, and the many others she tended and taught over the years. Before her death, she was employed in the Glynn County School System.
She is survived by her daughter, Amy D. Hampton of Nashville, TN; her son, Adam D. Hampton of Brunswick, Ga; granddaughter Amelia Hampton, also of Brunswick; and many dear friends.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Stroke Association, National Center, 7272 Greenville Avenue, Dallas, TX 75231 or to your local animal rescue.
Albritton Funeral Directors are managing the arrangements.
