Millie Griffin Gilmore, 95, of Albany passed away, July 11, 2024 at Willson Hospice House in Albany, Georgia. She was known for dedication and compassion throughout life.

 Millie began her nursing career at Tift County Hospital in Tifton, where she worked numerous years before transitioning to Phoebe Putney in Albany, Georgia. After many years of nursing at Phoebe Putney, she transitioned to a pharmacy technician position where she remained until her retirement after forty-three years of service. One of the most cherished attributes of Millie was her loving and caring spirit which touched the hearts of all who knew her. She was a dedicated caregiver to all of her family and friends when they needed her.

 A funeral service to honor and celebrate Millie Gilmore's life will be held on Monday, July 15, 2024 at the Chapel of Albritton Funeral Directors in Tifton with Rev. Larry Layfield and Jason Womack officiating. The service will commence at 10:00 AM to pay tribute to a remarkable individual who touched the lives of many with her unwavering compassion and care. The interment will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery in Ashburn.  The family will receive friends on Sunday, July 14, 2024 from 4:00 to 6:00 P.M. at Albritton Funeral Directors.

Mrs. Gilmore’s nephews, Rodney Griffin, Carroll Griffin, Steve Griffin, Brad Griffin, Brandon Griffin and Glen Griffin, will serve as pallbearers. 

Millie was a member of Porterfield Methodist Church in Albany. She had a deep passion for her family, she collected antiques and celebrated all the holidays with decorations and family gatherings. She enjoyed maintaining her yard, playing any card game, especially Bridge and Hand and Foot. She kept busy during the day, but at night she enjoyed watching television. Her favorite shows were The Andy Griffith Show, The Golden Girls, Wheel of Fortune, Jeopardy, and The HGTV channel. Her optimistic approach to life resonated with those around her, which made every gathering special and memorable. She will be remembered for her sharp mind, and her kind and thoughtful personality.

 Millie was preceded in death by her parents Henry Anderson Griffin and Frankie Cravey Griffin, her husband William Stewart Gilmore, as well as her siblings Ralph Griffin, Henry Griffin, Charles Griffin, Benjamin Griffin, R. D. Griffin, Raleigh Griffin, Ronald Griffin, Elizabeth Carrington, Doris Graves, Hester Whiddon and Frances Womack, all of whom she loved very much.

She is survived by her son Bob Gilmore and his fiancé Barbara Stillman of Parkland, Florida; and her granddaughter Paige Aufiero along with her husband Chris of Gastonia, North Carolina. Paige was very special to Millie and loved her dearly. Paige had recently informed Millie that she was going to be a great-grandmother. Millie's legacy of kindness and generosity will live on through the memories shared by those who knew and loved her.
