Mrs. Mickey Brown Goodwin, 97, passed away on Thursday, July 26, 2018 at Rehabilitation Center of South Georgia.
Graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 28, 2018 in Oakridge Cemetery with Rev. John Gibbs, Jr. officiating.
Mrs. Goodwin was born July 26, 1921 in Irwin county to the late W. P. Brown, Sr., and Nora Martin Brown. She was preceded in death by her husband, Wayne Goodwin, to whom she was married forty-five years and three brothers, Theron Brown, Charles Brown and James Brown. Mrs. Goodwin was a member of First Baptist Church of Tifton. She was a former Airline Stewardess with National Airlines. She was retired from Tift Regional Medical Center, where she served as the first Patient Representative and the first Director of Volunteers (Pink Ladies and Red Coats), having helped write the originating policies, procedures and job descriptions for these positions. Ms. Goodwin was a charter member of the Auxiliary and served as Chairperson of the Steering Committee when the “Pink Ladies” were first organized. She was a faithful member of this organization since 1970. She served over 50 years as a member of Eastern Star and the Hasan Shrine Auxiliary. She was a charter member and helped organize the Past Matrons Club and District 18 Past Matrons and Patrons Club and was a member of the Shrine Patrol Auxiliary and Classic Car Auxiliary. She served as local and state President of the American Heart Association; served as a charter member of US Postal Customer Advisory Committee; served as a member of the American Red Cross; served on the State Board of the Cancer Society and she served on the George Wright Awards Committee of Older Americans.
Mrs. Goodwin is survived by one brother, Squire Brown of Tifton; several nieces and nephews.
