Miss Merrill Larue Rigsby, 98, of Tifton passed away on Saturday, October 16, 2021 at Bradley Place Care Center.
A graveside service will be held Friday, October 22, 2021 at 2:00 P.M. at Eldorado Baptist Church Cemetery with Dr. Corey Reuteman-Fowler and Rev. Michael King officiating. The family will receive friends on Friday, October 22, 2021 from 12:30 to 1:30 P.M. at Albritton Funeral Directors before the service at the graveside.
Michael Manley, Greg Manley, Corey Reuteman-Fowler, Joey Reuteman-Fowler, Dennis Menard and Jim Collier will serve as pallbearers.
Miss Rigsby was born January 25, 1923 in Tift County to the late Land Andrew Rigsby, Sr., and Martha Elizabeth Roberson Rigsby. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Land Andrew “L.A.” Rigsby, Jr., Johnny Paul “J. P.” Rigsby and her sister Kelsey Rigsby Manley. Miss Rigsby was born in Tift County and later moved to Atlanta then returned to live the rest of her life in Tifton in 1987. She attended Union Grove Church of God in Eldorado. She was a wonderful aunt who loved her many nieces, nephews and cousins. Aunt Merrill lived a long and fulfilling life and despite many obstacles since childhood with hearing and vision challenges, she never let it stop her from seeing and exploring the world. Miss Rigsby was retired from Crawford and Company in Atlanta as a clerical worker.
Miss Rigsby is survived by nieces and nephews; Herman and Betty Manley of Rockmart, Larry and Norma Manley of Leesburg, Rhonda and Doug Wood of Tifton, Karen Waltz of Tifton, Alan Rigsby of Atlanta, Landa Rigsby Howard and David Rigsby both of Carrolton, Texas.
The family would like to express their appreciate to Bradley Place staff, residents and Bethany Hospice for the wonderful care of Miss Rigsby.
