Mrs. Melba “Audrey” Alexander Cauthen, 93, of Tifton passed away on Monday, December 20, 2021 at Tifton Health and Rehab.
A graveside service will be held Thursday, December 23, 2021 at 10:00 A.M. at Enigma City Cemetery with Rev. Jerry Cooper officiating. The family will receive friends Wednesday, December 22, 2021 from 6:00 to 7:00 P.M. at Albritton Funeral Directors.
Richard Williams, Greg Daniel, Jay Daniel, Andy Cauthen and Alex Cauthen will serve as pallbearers.
Mrs. Cauthen was born June 15, 1928 in Irwin County to the late Henry Eugene Alexander and Alma Jane Brown Alexander. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. James Robert Cauthen, Sr. to whom she was married for sixty-five years at his death, her infant daughter, Deborah Lynn Cauthen and two brothers. Mrs. Cauthen was a member of Fourth Street Baptist Church. Her family remembered her as a very humble, kind, gentle and soft-spoken lady. Mrs. Audrey loved country music and loved to cook. She cooked three meals a day and everyone loved her homemade biscuits. While her husband was living, they both enjoyed going to the mountains with their friends.
Mrs. Cauthen is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Robby and Mika Cauthen of Ashburn; her daughter and son-in-law, Lisa and Richard Williams of Chester, South Carolina; her grandchildren, Beth and Greg Daniel, Andy and Elizabeth Cauthen and Alex Cauthen and his fiancée, Madison Criswell and her son, Sam Criswell; great grandchildren, Jay Daniel and his fiancée, Christina Ledford, Madeline Cauthen, Cooper Cauthen and Luke Cauthen. She is also survived by her brother and sister-in-law, Carol and Diane Alexander of Lake Alfred, Florida and her sister and brother-in-law, Elaine and David Sheffield of Winter Haven, Florida.
Albritton Funeral Directors is in charge of the arrangements.
