Mattie Lou (Gregory) St John

Mattie Lou Gregory St. John, 91, of Tifton passed away on Wednesday, May 2, 2018 at Tifton Health and Rehabilitation Center.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 5th at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Albritton Funeral Directors with Rev. Steve Davis officiating. Interment will follow in Zion Hope Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends before the service from 12:00 to 1:30 p.m. at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Chip Rutland, Sean Passmore, Shannon Passmore, Joey St. John, Fred Barnes and Charles Swain.

Mrs. St. John was born August 15, 1926 in Colquitt County, Georgia to the late Osco Garrett Gregory and Florida May Pitts Gregory. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Morris Ervin St. John who died September 21, 2017, her son-in-law, Wayne Rutland and eight siblings. Mrs. St. John was a member of Zion Hope Baptist Church and she loved her church and singing in the choir. She was a homemaker who loved to cook and had worked as an inspector for Manhattan shirt Factory. Mrs. St. John was a Pink Lady at Tift Regional Medical Center for many years. She never met a stranger who loved everyone and would help anyone.

Mrs. St. John is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Tommy and Priscilla St. John of Eldorado; one daughter, Peggy Rutland of Tifton; four grandchildren and five great grandchildren, three brothers and one sister.
