Miss Mary Jane Tipper, 76, of Ty Ty, Georgia passed away on Monday, December 30, 2019 at Legacy Village of Tifton.
A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, January 4, 2020 at 11:00 A.M. at First Baptist Church of Chula with Rev. Chad Hall and Rev. Jonathan Tipper officiating. The family will receive friends Friday, January 3rd from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Albritton Funeral Directors. Interment will be private at First Baptist Church of Ty Ty Cemetery.
Chad Cottle, Eric Willis, Brian Gibson, Ryan Gibson, Dusty Gibson, Daniel Gibson, Harold Harris John Burgess and City Council of Ty Ty will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Judith Gibson, Melissa Gibson, Cammie Lund, Lynne Cook, Mary Sumner, Gale Tucker, Elaine and Jim Taylor and Ag Teachers of Tift County High School.
Miss Tipper was born January 29, 1943 in Colquitt County to the late John Wyatt Tipper and Mary Blanche Walker Tipper. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Jimmy Tipper and Randy Tipper and her nephew Andrew Wyatt Tipper. Miss Tipper was a member of First Baptist Church of Chula where she was very active and very supportive of the missions programs of the Southern Baptist Convention. She was retired from Tift County Board of Education after thirty years of teaching math and gifted students. She was proudest of her student’s attitudes about learning and made sure they got a good education. Her former students are Doctors, Lawyers, Youth Pastors, “Indian Chiefs”, Board of Directors for State of Florida, Business Men and Women Engineers. Everyday she talked about life skills and what they should and should not do. She believed her formers students lived by those life skills. Miss Tipper was a lifetime member of Tift County FFA Alumni, Retired Teachers Associations, City Council of Ty Ty since February, 1996 and Tift County Ag Advisory Council. Miss Tipper was a graduate of ABAC, Georgia Southern and Georgia Southwestern with a Master’s in Education plus additional year of Physics and Math in Gifted Teaching. She was STAR Teacher three times during her career.
Miss Tipper is survived by one brother and sister-in-law, Scotty and Janice Tipper of Leary, Georgia; two sisters, Lisa Tipper of Tifton and Betty John Markham of Marion, North Carolina; special sister, Donna Marlow, along with nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to First Baptist Church of Chula, (for youth and summer activities), 30 Academy Drive, Chula, Ga. 31733 or Pregnancy Care Center, 104 W 8th Street #2, Tifton, Ga. 31794.
