Mrs. McEachern was born February 15, 1931, in Colquitt County, GA to the late Vassar L. Burgess, Sr. and Lucy Croft Burgess. Her childhood was spent in Colquitt County, where she attended local schools and graduated from Colquitt High School in 1949. During her senior year of high school, Mrs. McEachern met her future husband, “Mac.” They were happily married for over 45 years and raised two loving sons, David and Greg.

Fran loved her community and had a giving heart. She worked at the Big Store in Tifton for many years then later served as a Pink Lady with the Tift Regional Hospital Auxiliary for over 30 years. She also worked as the gift shop manager at Tift Regional Hospital until 2016 when she fully retired. Mrs. McEachern loved the Lord and was an active member of Grace Baptist Church. In her free time, she enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, gardening, fashion, and singing.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her devoted husband, James S. McEachern, Jr.; brothers, Harvey Burgess, Ovitt Burgess, Vassar “Buddy” Burgess, Jr., and Paul Burgess; and sisters, Lorene Burgess Lawson, Grace Burgess Simons, and Betty Ann Burgess Sapp.

She will be missed by those she loved most, her sons, David (Susan) McEachern of Fort Valley, Georgia and Greg (Phyllis) McEachern of LaGrange, Georgia; grandchildren, Brittany (Erick) Holle, Debbie Joy McEachern, Laura (Kyle) McCuen, Daniel McEachern, and Josh McEachern; great grandchildren, Quin, Bo, Gabriel, Ariel, Amelia, and Caroline; and many nieces and nephews.

Fran loved her family with all her heart. The five white roses on her casket represent her grandchildren, who loving referred to her as “MaMa.” The six pink roses signify her great grandchildren. In her hands, she holds four red roses in honor of her devoted husband, two sons, and daughter-in-law.

In lieu of flowers the family requests contributions be made to Grace Baptist Church, 1900 W. Golden Rd., Tifton, GA 31794.
