Mary Lou (Blevins) Kirby

Mary Lou Blevins Kirby, 82 of Tifton died Saturday, September 26, 2020 at her granddaughter’s house in Sumner.

Funeral services will be held, Tuesday, September 29, 2020 at 2:00 P.M. in the chapel of Albritton Funeral Directors with Pastor Hank House officiating.  Eulogies will be given by Mr. Lee Turner and Mr. Roy Sears. Interment will follow at Omega City Cemetery in Omega.  The family will not hold a formal visitation but they will meet at the funeral home at 1:00 P.M. on Tuesday before the service.

Randy Wiley, Logan Milner, Matthew Hinson, David Hinson, III, Bo Hicks, and Aric Ware will serve as pallbearers.  Honorary pallbearers will be David Hinson, II and Gordon Kirby.

Mrs. Mary Lou was well known in the Tifton Community. She was the Director of Activities at Tift Health Care for thirty-two years from 1980 – 2012, then she worked as a clerk for the Cracker Barrel gift store from 2012-2020.  Mrs. Mary Lou was of the Non- Denominational Christian faith.  She was remembered as a larger than life lady with a bold, vibrant personality.   Mrs. Kirby never met a stranger and was always willing to help anyone in need. The Lord Jesus was first in her life. She loved the outdoors and went hunting and fishing with her father. During her time as an Activities Director, she made sure all residents were treated equally and well respected, ensuring they all knew their worth and that they were loved. She loved all animals and always had her parrots close by.  She liked going to yard sales on Saturdays, but hated hosting yard sales. She was also very creative and artistic, always creating something from nothing. She would do anything for her children and grandchildren.

She was born on September 3, 1938 in Glasgow, Kentucky to the late Gaudin and Fora Smith Blevins. She graduated from Mt. Clemens High School in Mt. Clemens, MI. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Ronald Paul Kirby, Sr., her son Ronald Paul Kirby, Jr. and two grandsons, Justin Hinson and Bucky Hinson.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Karla and David Hinson of Norman Park, her son Gordon Kirby of Norman Park, her grandchildren, Beth and Randy Wiley of Tifton, Dawn Kirby of Austin, TX, Chrys and Logan Milner of Tifton, Ronnye Kirby of Tifton, David Hinson, III of Norman Park, Megan Hinson of Sumner and Bo Hicks of Irwinville, great grandchildren, Morgan Hinson, Matthew Hinson, Layla Hinson, Ashton Hinson, Keira Hinson, great great  grandchild, Ava Hinson, her two sisters and brothers-in-law Wilma and Butch Johnson of Fairfield, TX.,and Janie and Mike Davidson of Murrieta, CA., and her daughter in-law, Norma Kirby of Lubbock,TX
