Martha Sutton Barrineau

Martha Sutton Barrineau, 89, of Tifton, passed away on October 24, 2024 at Maple Court Senior Care Center of Tifton.  

A private burial will be held at Oak Ridge Cemetery.

She was born in Berrien County to the late Elder Noah L Sutton and Gertie Luke Sutton. She was preceded in death by her parents and by a sister, Hazel Sutton Connell, and a brother, Paul D. Sutton. 

She is survived by her son Phil Barrineau, of Greensboro, NC and her daughter Tammy Barrineau Jones (Bobby) of Brookfield, GA; granddaughters Katie Lauren Jones of Sacramento, CA, Elizabeth Barrineau Cromer of Tifton, GA, and Hannah Warner Barrineau of Louisville, KY. She is also survived by great-grandchildren Lyrix Shae Devine of Sacramento, CA, Chandler Rhys Cromer and Scarlett Claire Cromer of Tifton, GA, and Olivia Nadine Arico, of Louisville, KY.  

Mrs. Barrineau graduated from Tift County High School in 1953. She was married to her late husband, Harry Barrineau, for seventy-one years. She worked many years as a bookkeeper and administrative assistant. She and Harry enjoyed delivering Meals on Wheels in their retirement years. She was an active member of First Methodist Church of Tifton for over sixty years, where she greatly enjoyed collecting money at church night supper for many years. She was an avid fan of the Atlanta Braves, the Georgia Bulldogs and the Tift County Blue Devils. 

The family wishes to especially thank Sue Walker, Rubye Knight, Annette Williams, Pamela Drayton and Mary Thomas for countless hours of support and assistance during Mrs. Barrineau’s final years, in addition to the staff of Maple Court and Traditions Hospice for their professional and compassionate care.

 In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Eastern Seals Southern Georgia, 1906 Palmyra Road, Albany, GA 31701. (Payable to Tifton Easter Seals Day Center).
