Lynne (Marchant) Hester

Mrs. Marjorie Lynne Marchant Hester, 73, of Tifton passed away on Wednesday, May 4, 2022, at Navicent Hospital of Macon, Georgia with her son and daughter by her side.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, May 7, 2022 at Oak Grove Baptist Church with Rev. Mike Patillo, Rev. Terry Smith and Rev. Gary Cadwell officiating. Interment will follow at Oakridge Cemetery with Mr. Nat McCalvin officiating. The family will receive friends Friday, May 6, 2022 from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. at Albritton Funeral Directors.

Kevin Branch, Chad Branch, Todd Branch, Paul Kelly, Jess Lindsey, Glenn Rogers, Christian Harris, Mason Hester and John David Purvis, Jr., will serve as pallbearers.

Mrs. Hester was born Tift County to the late Virgil Green Marchant and Thelma Jean Rogers Marchant. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of fifty-three years, James Alton Hester who died February 15, 2022. Mrs. Hester was a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church. She was a 1967 graduate of Tift County High School and was retired after thirty-six years from USDA southeast water shed research division. Lynne was a volunteer for Celebrate Recovery, ESL, Santa’s Helpers and various other community service activities. She was an accomplished pianist and had played the piano at her church since she was sixteen. She loved to travel with her family and friends, shop until she dropped and enjoyed working in her yards. Lynne enjoyed their cabin in the mountains but her favorite place was the beach.  She truly loved her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Mrs. Hester is survived by one daughter, Meredith Hester Purvis and her fiancé Chris Moseley of Brunswick; one son and daughter-in-law, Jamie and Megan Hester of Tifton; three grandsons, Christian, Mason and John; granddaughters, Kayla, Katie and Addison; two great grandchildren, Landyn and Emersyn; one sister and brother-in-law, Barbara and Wayne Branch, along with her husbands family, his brother, Donald (Sue) Hester; four sisters, Carolyn (Freddie) Kelly, Brenda (Harold) Gershon, Peggy (Johnny) Lindsey and Shirlene Goodrich and many nieces and nephews.
