Mrs. Louise Ray Baker, 84, of Tifton, passed away on Tuesday, November 3, 2020 at Southern Oaks Personal Care Home.
Funeral services will be held Friday, November 6, 2020 at 2:00 P.M. in the chapel of Albritton Funeral Directors with Rev. John Fox officiating. Interment will follow in Oakridge Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Thursday, November 5, 2020 from 5:30 to 7:30 P.M. at the funeral home.
Mrs. Baker was born November 30, 1935 in Tift County to the late Lyle B. Ray and Mae Swift Ray. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Owens Baker who died October 11, 2004, her brother, James “Jimmy” Wiley Ray who died April 8, 2018 and her great nephew, Josh Ray. Mrs. Baker was an active member of Conway United Methodist Church of Orlando where she and a group of her Sunday School Class served food to the homeless on a regular basis. She was a graduate of Tifton High School in 1953. She went directly to Macon, Georgia to start her education in the medical profession. She graduated from Macon Medical College with a Certificate in Radiologic Technology in 1954; graduated from Medical College of GA in Augusta in 1976 with a B.S. in Radiologic Technology; graduated from Valencia Community College, Orlando, Florida in 1996 with an Associate in Science in Nursing R.N. Louise worked in the medical profession for forty-six years before retiring to her home in Orlando, Florida. In March 2018 Louise moved to Tifton and lived at Southern Oaks Personal Care Home.
Mrs. Baker is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Rhonwyn B. and Joe Godwin of Orlando; her grandchildren, Tannah Raye Godwin and Shane and Shelbi Godwin of Orlando; her sister, Martha Ray of Tifton; her nephew, Kenny Ray of Tifton
