Lonnie Harris Boyd

Mr. Lonnie Harris Boyd, 78, of Tifton passed away on Monday, January 20, 2020 at his residence.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, January 23, 2020 at 11:00 A.M. in the chapel of Albritton Funeral Directors with Dr. Clark Harden officiating. Eulogy will be given by Allen Boyd. Interment will follow in Oakridge Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 9:15 to 10:30 A.M. before the service at the funeral home.

Allen Boyd, Joshua Boyd, Joe Swofford, Paul Bott, Steve Arrington, Carl Hall, Hunter Mercer and Ronnie Brooks will serve as pallbearers.

Mr. Boyd was born November 3, 1941 in Tift County to the late Guy Harris Boyd and Ruby Tyson Boyd. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother Joseph Boyd. Mr. Boyd graduated from Tifton High School in 1959 and later from ABAC in 1961. He was a member of Brighton Road Baptist Church where he served as a deacon. He was retired from Georgia Department of Labor as an Agriculture Representative. He had lived all of his life in Tift County. Mr. Boyd loved his Lord and was a faithful servant in helping those in need. Mr. Lonnie was a humble man who expected nothing in return for those he helped. He enjoyed being outside and working on his farm with his cows and donkeys. He loved animals including his Doberman Pinscher Duke. Mr. Boyd’s greatest love was his wife and family.

Mr. Boyd is survived by his wife, Norma Carrington Boyd to whom he was married for forty-two years; his sister-in-law Burnell Boyd; his nephew Allen and his wife Debra Boyd and his niece Ruby Nell Boyd all of Tifton; two great nieces Suzanne and Paul Bott and Jennifer Swofford; two great nephews Joshua and Lacee Boyd and Joe and Jalin Swofford; three great great nephews Cullen Boyd, James Bott and Matthew Bott; one great great niece Jordyn Swofford; his very special friends Vann and Tammy Powers, Zoe Powers and Hunter Mercer.
