Tifton – Kelsey Bernice Rigsby Manley, 94, passed away Wednesday, January 30, 2019 at home, surrounded by her family.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 2nd at 11:00 a.m. at Albritton Funeral Directors with Dr. Danny Ray officiating. Eulogies will be given by Harold Abbott and Brandy Dorminey. Interment will follow in the Eldorado Baptist Church cemetery. The family will receive friends on Friday, February 1st from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Albritton Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Michael Manley, Greg Manley, Corey Fowler, Michael Underwood, Drew Dorminey, Dennis Menard and Scott Drumm.
The Tift County native was born September 16, 1924 in Cook County, Georgia. She was a member of Eldorado Baptist Church and attended Fourth Street Baptist. She was retired from the Tift County Board of Education where she had worked as a paraprofessional at Tift County Junior High and then went to become the school secretary at G.O. Bailey Elementary when it opened.
Her greatest joy was working in her yard, growing all kinds of beautiful flowers and if she could not be found in the yard, she was inside crocheting beautiful Afghans and other craft items such as Christmas ornaments and angels. She loved to do all kinds of crafts. In her earlier years she also loved to cook, bake cakes and sew.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Gordon Leon “Brownie” Manley; parents, Land Andrew Rigsby and Martha Elizabeth Roberson Rigsby; brothers, Land Andrew “L.A.” Rigsby Jr. and Johnny Paul “J.P.” Rigsby; and her loving dog, Friskie.
Survivors include her children, Herman and Betty Manley , Larry and Norma Manley, Rhonda and Doug Wood, Karen and Freddie Waltz; grandchildren, Michael Manley, Greg and Hope Manley, Deana and Dennis Menard, Brandy and Drew Dorminey, Carla and Scott Drumm, Heather and Michael Underwood, Corey Fowler, Kari and Matt Harten, Russ and Maria Wood, Joy Waltz and Clint and Leigh Waltz; 22 great grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; her sister, Merrill Rigsby of Tifton and many nieces and nephews.
