Kathryn “Kathy” Harmon Norman, 69, daughter of the late Ella Mae Shirah and John Frank Harmon, Jr from Mitchell County Georgia died at her residence surrounded by her loved ones. She attended ABAC from 1969-1970.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 13, 2021 at 3:00 P.M. in Grace United Methodist Church with Rev. Eric Sizemore and Rev. Darrell Sumner officiating and Ms. Pat Dailey giving the eulogy. A committal service will follow the memorial service at Oakridge Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Saturday before the memorial service at Grace United Methodist Church from 2:00 – 2:45 P.M. CDC covid guidelines will be followed.
Ms. Norman was former member of First United Methodist Church and was instrumental in starting “Mothers Morning Out” and loved teaching Sunday School for ten years with preschoolers. She transferred her membership to Grace United Methodist Church on May 15, 1990 where she was a charter member until this day.
Ms. Norman worked in the medical field for 18 years at Tifton Orthopedic Clinic. During her vocation in the medical field, Ms. Norman worked alongside Dr. James W. Scott and helped implement Georgia Sports Medicine in 1983 and continued to work as the office manager until 1991.
Kathy was a hard worker both at the office and at home. She was a lover of animals and one of her favorite activities was to take her children on trips.
Her greatest accomplishments are being a mother to three sons, Matthew Douglas Norman, Michael Dean Norman, Jr., and Ryan Spencer Norman. Ms. Norman is survived by Michael Dean Norman Jr. and his wife Mary Ellen Norman of Tifton, GA, and Ryan Spencer Norman of Tampa FL. Also, her grandchildren Ty Mitchell Norman of Tifton, and Isabella Rose Norman and Autumn Rayn Norman of Americus, GA. Kathryn Norman is survived by her brother, Kenneth Harmon and his wife Genova Harmon from Marietta, GA and three nephews (Michael and Laurie Harmon and children, David Harmon, and Stephen and Kesha Harmon and children). She was preceded in death by her son Matthew Douglas Norman born on September 27, 1973. He lived for eleven days. In 1984, Ms. Norman was blessed to find and meet her biological mother the late Whelimenia Louise Salter and in 1986 she found and met her late biological father, John Joseph Eberhardt and her nine brothers and sisters, Linda Moser, Monroe, NC; Sharon Carey, FL; and Gus Carlo; Warren Salter; Johnny Carlo; and Frankie Carlo of New Orleans. She was preceded in death by Stevie Salter, Lila Labelle, and Cheryl Beyer.
