She was born on October 10, 1945, in Moultrie, Georgia to her father George Jones and her mother Irene Burroughs Jones. When Judy was eight years old, her father George died. Her Mother later remarried Troy Douglas who she loved like a father rather than a step-father. All three parents preceded her in death along with her sister, Janice Robinson.
Judy enjoyed a fulfilling life as a homemaker dedicating herself to creating a warm and loving environment for her family. She loved her role as a grandmother and found immense joy in being with them and cherished every moment. Judy also had a remarkable bond with Mrs. Eula McKee, her Mother-in-law before her death. She served as Mrs. Eula’s personal driver and enjoyed their relationship. She always thought of her as a Mother, rather than a Mother-in-law.
Judy's love for the outdoors was evident in one of her favorite hobbies - working in her yard. She took great pleasure in gardening and maintaining the beauty of nature surrounding her home. This passion mirrored the care and dedication she showed to those she loved. One of her passions was feeding and watching the birds.
Before her illness, she was an active member of Eastside Baptist Church since 1966, Judy contributed significantly as part of the church choir and brought joy to many through her participation in various activities of the church.
Judy is survived by her loving husband of sixty-one years, Darrel V. McKee. Together they built a life filled with love, laughter, and countless cherished memories. She will be deeply missed by her children, Tim and April McKee of Moultrie, Von McKee and Michelle Buchan of Tifton, and Fran and David McCollum of Elizabethtown, Ky.
Judy's fourteen grandchildren were the light of her life. She took immense pride in their achievements and nurtured their growth with unconditional love. Her grandchildren are Tripp McKee, Desiree Banda, Isaac McKee, Carter McKee, Tilly McKee, Chase McKee, Grace Daniels, Melody McKee, Landon McCollum, Glory McKee, Anna McKee, Reese McCollum, Matthew McKee, and Mattie McCollum, her two great-grandchildren Bree Daniels and Thea Daniels, along with her special niece, Genia McKee who helped with her care.
Flowers will be accepted or donations may be made to Hospice of Tift Area, P.O. Box 747, Tifton, Georgia 31793.
