Juanita (Stephenson) Patterson

October 21, 1921 — April 18, 2016

Juanita S. Patterson of Tifton, died Monday, April 18, 2016 at Legacy of Tifton, formerly Southern Care Assisted Living Center.

Funeral Services will be held Thursday, April 21, 2016 at 2:00 P.M. in the chapel of Albritton Funeral Directors with the Rev. Benjy Varnell officiating. Interment will follow at Tift Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Wednesday, April 20, 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home.

Mrs. Patterson was born October 21, 1921 in Chester County, South Carolina to the late Alley Jefferson  and Mary Agnes Stephenson.

Mrs. Patterson was married to the late Homer Carl Patterson who died in July, 1997. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree from Winthrop College in South Carolina. She was a third grade teacher in Moultrie at Central and R.B. Wright Schools, then at Northside School in Tifton from 1967 until 1983 where she retired. Mrs. Patterson was an active member of the First United Methodist Church of Tifton, member of the Retired Teachers Association and the Club 55. She was a great teacher and she love to read.

Mrs. Patterson was preceded in death by her husband and her parents.

Mrs. Patterson is survived by three sons and two daughters-in-law, Stephen and Chizuko Patterson of Bradenton, Florida, Fred Patterson of Folkston, and Alex and Kathy Patterson of Tifton; two daughters, Karen and Chip Rooks of  Fayetteville, North Carolina and Carol and Kenny Stone of Florence, SC; twelve grandchildren, twenty three great grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren.

Flowers will be accepted or donations to Hospice of Tift Area P.O. Box 747 Tifton, Georgia 31793.
