1933 Joyce 2025

Joyce E O'Connor

July 9, 1933 — March 22, 2025

Lakeland, Georgia

Joyce Elaine. O'Connor, a cherished homemaker and devoted matriarch, passed away peacefully at the home of her beloved daughter, Roseanne  in Lakeland, Georgia, on March 22, 2025 after a lengthy illness. Born on July 9, 1933, in Quincy, Illinois, Joyce graced this world for ninety-one years, leaving behind a legacy woven with love, warmth, and devotion.

Joyce was a dedicated housewife and her influence reached far beyond the confines of her home. She was a nurturer at heart, tending not only to her family but also to her vibrant garden where she found joy in planting flowers, particularly tropical varieties like azaleas, birds of paradise, anthuriums, and plumerias. Each bloom was a testament to her passion for life and a reflection of her nurturing personality.  This love of tropical flowers grew from her favorite vacations to Hawaii.

In her role as a wife, a mother, a grandmother, and a great-grandmother, Joyce embodied the essence of devotion. She cherished the profound connections she made with her three children, Roseanne Marie, Brenda Joyce, and Timothy Edward, who will remember her as a constant source of love and support. she was also survived by her three grandchildren Sean, Matthew and Bryce, four great grandchildren and several cousins. Her legacy lives on through her family, who carry forward her values of kindness, dedication, and compassion.

She also enjoyed watching the L. A. Dodgers and Atlanta Braves baseball teams if she was not gardening or watching baseball then she could be found in her room listening to the rock music of the 70's and 80's.

Joyce shared sixty-seven years with her late husband, Glenn Edward O'Connor at the time of his death on February 22, 2018 and his military career brought them together in a union marked by mutual respect and admiration. They faced the journey of life side by side, which is now fondly remembered by those who knew them. With her passing, Joyce joins her husband Glenn, along with her parents, Robert Elmer and Marie Caroline Jones, as well as her brothers, William Frank Jones and Robert "Bobby" Jones, Jr., in eternal rest.

She was a member of Our Divine Saviour Catholic in Tifton and St Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Ray City.
