Joyce “Lea” Manning Hunnicutt, 71, of Tifton, died Monday, April 24, 2017 at Tift Regional Medical Center.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, April 27 at 2pm at Albritton Funeral Directors in the chapel with the Rev. Ronnie Lawson officiating. Interment will follow at Liberty Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Wednesday evening, April 26 from 6-8pm at the funeral home.
Mrs. Hunnicutt’s grandsons and nephews will serve as pallbearers.
Mrs. Hunnicutt was born in Dublin, Georgia on January 07, 1946 to the late Gurvice Manning and Joyce Ophelia Simmons Manning. She was married to James E. Hunnicutt for 51 years. Mrs. Hunnicutt attended Eastside Baptist Church and Liberty Baptist Church for many years.
Mrs. Hunnicutt formerly worked with the Tift County Board of Education as a paraprofessional and a substitute teacher. She was a professional seamtress and sewed many garments for the school band, choral and performing arts. Mrs. Hunnicutt was an Atlanta Braves fan, enjoyed gardening and was just beginning to make costume jewelry. She attended technical school and for a hobby was a brick mason. Mrs. Hunnicutt was a very giving person who was always willing to assist those in need. She loved her family very much.
In addition to her husband, Mrs. Hunnicutt is survived by her two daughters and sons-in-law, Jennifer and Russell Brooker of Boca Raton, FL and Joy and Robbie Shaffer of Knoxville, TN; her five grandchildren, Russell Booker, Jr., Jay Booker, Blake Shaffer, Tyler Shaffer and Rylee Shaffer; her two sisters, Sam and Jim McGaw of Savannah and Cyndi and Joey Watson of Nashville, GA; and her three brothers, Alvin Manning of Fitzgerald, Boyce and Kathy Manning of Flowery Branch, GA, and Billy and Alecia Manning of Cedar Grove, GA.
