John Gilbert Boyette

Mr. John Gilbert Boyette, 87, passed away on Thursday, May 9, 2019 at Tift Regional Medical Center.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, May 12, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. in chapel of Albritton Funeral Directors with Dr. Fred Evers officiating. Interment will be held at Beaver Dam Cemetery at 4:00 p.m. Sunday, May 12, 2019 in Ray City. The family will receive friends from 12:30 to 1:45 p.m. before the service at the funeral home.

Mike Pooler, Lee Powell, John David Johnson, Joseph Johnson, Stephen Johnson, Caleb Vining and Alan Peugh will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Kevin Ray's Sunday School Class.

Mr. Boyette was born October 5, 1931 in Lanier County, Georgia to the late Wilburn B. Boyette and Estelle Dean Boyette. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother Wilburn Boyette, Jr., and his wife Catherine, also a great grandson Ezra Francis.  Mr. Boyette was a member of Northside Baptist Church of Tifton. He was a veteran of United States Navy and Air Force. He was a graduate of Georgia Military Academy in 1950.  Mr. Boyette came to Tifton as manager of Georgia Department of Labor in October, 1967. Later was a building contractor and farmer. He was active in his church where he served as a deacon and Sunday School Teacher.  He and his wife taught children’s church for many years. He helped organize and was the leader for church ushers for many years.

Mr. Boyette is survived by his wife, June Giddens Boyette; two daughters, Marsha Boyette of Brunswick and Linda Boyette and Edd Powell of Omega; one son and daughter-in-law, Marc and Audrey Boyette of Milton, Florida;  grandchildren, Bess and Mike Pooler, Meg Marshall and Caleb Vining, Taylor and Aaron Francis, Madison Boyette, Elijah Boyette, Ethan Boyette, Lee and Jessica Powell and Chris and Jackie Powell; great grandchildren, Parker and Emma Pooler, Nehemiah Francis, Sumner Powell, Mary Bella Powell, Cadence and Reid Powell; several nieces and nephews.

Flowers accepted or donations may be made to Northside Baptist Church of Tifton, 4605 Murray Ave., Tifton, Ga. 31794.
