Joe Darrell Sumner, 71, of the West Berrien Community went to spend his eternal life with his Lord and Saviour Jesus on March 26, 2024.
A Graveside Service will be held at 2:00 P.M. on March 28, 2024, at Tift Memorial Gardens with Mr. Greg Sheppard and Mr. Phil Beach officiating. No public visitation will be held.
Darrell was born on October 28, 1952, in Tift County, Georgia, to the late James E. Sumner and Ruth Inez Reagan Sumner. He was a man of dedication and commitment as evidenced by his thirty-six years of service at Kelley Manufacturing Company before retiring.
One of Darrell's proudest accomplishments was being asked to serve as the pastor of Grace and Mercy Church in Tifton for five memorable years. His love for his church family knew no bounds, and he touched the lives of many through his spiritual guidance and unwavering support.
Darrell will be deeply missed by his surviving family: his devoted wife, Barbara Conger Sumner; his four cherished children, Joe and Molly Sumner of Martinsville, Virginia, and Jodie and Matt Davis of West Berrien. His legacy continues through his three adored grandchildren who were the pride and joy of his life: Beckett Davis, Gizmo Sumner, and Sumner Davis.
In addition to his immediate family, Darrell leaves behind siblings who meant the world to him: Don and Linda Sumner of Tifton; Sandra and Tom Surles; Dale Sumner; Bonnie and Joe Robinson of Nashville; Buster and Shirley Conger of Nashville.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Grace and Mercy Church Food Pantry, 4001 N. Tift Avenue, Tifton, Ga. 31794.
